Controlled substance and alcohol testing regulations are in place to protect the safety of the employee, the employer, and the motoring public.  This training will educate supervisors of CDL Drivers about how to determine whether reasonable suspicion exists to require a driver to undergo further testing. The training will focus on obtaining the skills to recognize when a driver may be misusing alcohol and when a driver may be using drugs.

Training will cover the rules and regulations that govern the testing process in accordance with the Department of Transportation regulations, particularly 49 CFR Part 382.603.  You will learn what type of drivers are to be tested, and which substances a driver will be tested for. You will also be able to identify the indicators of a driver who appears to be under the influence, how to document your suspicions, and how to send a driver for appropriate testing.

Who should attend:

This training is intended for those that directly supervise or oversee CDL drivers, as well as those employers that would partake in employment decisions and/or the decision to undergo drug and alcohol testing.
