Held at the Primex3 Training Facility in Concord, NH
Sessions run three consecutive days from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day (lunch provided)

The application process for the December Supervisors’ Academy opens October 21st. 

Applications must be submitted by November 1st.

The Primex3 Supervisors’ Academy Curriculum

The Primex3 Supervisors’ Academy uses a Mt. Everest case study and theme in the application of supervisory concepts and skills

BASE CAMP: A Team in Name Only?

  • Apply the principles identified in the case study in your role as a supervisor
  • Identify three factors involved in maintaining situational awareness and apply them to decision making
  • Apply the factors involved in developing team psychological safety (TPS) and how TPS contributes to effective supervision and team culture

CAMP I: The Valley of Silence – What Lies Beneath: Behaviors and Driving Forces

  • Through the DISC online assessment and the report debrief, become aware of your Behavioral Style, Driving Forces, and learn how to adapt them to become a more effective supervisor
  • Leverage the different Behavioral Styles and Driving Forces to create stronger teams

CAMP II: Reduce the Risk or Manage the Consequences

  • Conduct an Incident Review surrounding an incident/accident
  • Employ risk management techniques to prevent accidents
  • Employ claims management techniques to reduce the cost of claims

CAMP III: Employee Performance: As the Air Thins…

  • Explain the supervisor’s role in addressing performance issues
  • Demonstrate skill in engaging in a performance discussion
  • Demonstrate skill in identifying performance behaviors/issues that should be addressed
  • Identify the pitfalls associated with addressing performance issues

CAMP IV: Tools for the Summit

  • Review and apply key concepts of effective supervising

THE SUMMIT:

  • Formulate ideas, behaviors, and practices into a method for problem solving, decision-making and solutions for effective supervising
  • Develop an action plan for applying concepts, tools, and techniques at work

How to Apply for the Primex3 Supervisors’ Academy

Applications are to be completed by the candidate. To be considered for Supervisors’ Academy, each applicant must complete and submit the online application which includes:

  • Contact information
  • Your nominating supervisor’s contact information
  • A brief essay (250 words or less) stating why you believe you are a good candidate for the Primex3 Supervisors’ Academy
  • A statement of nomination (250 words or less) from your supervisor stating why you are being nominated for the Primex3 Supervisors’ Academy

Only completed applications are considered. If selected, the candidates will be notified three weeks prior to the start of the respective Supervisors’ Academy date.

Note: Preference will be given to those currently in supervisory positions.

Certification and completion requirements

A Certificate of Completion and 2.3 CEUs/23 Contact Hours are awarded upon successful completion of the following:

  • Attend all three days of the program
  • Complete all pre- and post-assignments. Pre-assignments are assigned approximately three weeks before the program begins, and one post-assignment is given approximately two weeks after the classroom session has ended
  • Achieve a score of 70 percent or higher on the Learning Check
  • Participate in case studies and exercises while making a respectful contribution to the environment


Pre- and Post-Assignments: (Estimated time to complete all assignments is 5.5 hours over a three-week period)

  • DISC online assessment
  • Read Everest Case Study and respond to questions via the Discussion Board
  • Discussion Board #2
  • Learning Check – Passing Score of 70 percent required for successful completion
  • Discussion Board #3 (post-session)
