Daniel Goleman states that “90% of the difference between star performers and average performers in senior leadership is Emotional Intelligence.” Emotional Intelligence is the ability to sense, understand and effectively apply the power and acumen of emotions to facilitate higher levels of collaboration and productivity.

The ability to understand your emotional state, regulate your emotions, and display empathy in the workplace may be the key difference between good leaders, and great ones. This session will review the results of the individual Emotional Quotient Assessments (EQ) and discuss areas of potential risk associated with particular styles. Emotional intelligence provides a window into how people will apply their Behavioral Style and whether or not to expect success. Daniel Goleman’s six leadership styles will be reviewed and compared with the collective behavioral styles, and emotional intelligence results.

This session, based upon the theories of Daniel Goleman, will explore the tenets of Emotional Intelligence and outline techniques to build competency in the following intrapersonal and interpersonal skills:

Learning objectives of this session are:

 - Recognize and understand your moods, emotions, and drives, as well as their effect on others
 - Be able to control or redirect disruptive impulses and moods and the propensity to suspend judgment
 - Establish proficiency in managing relationships and building networks
 - Have the passion to work for reasons beyond money and status
 - Pursue goals with energy and persistence
 - Understand the emotional make-up of other people

There will be two pre-assignments for this session (total estimated time to complete both assignments is approximately 2 hours)
