Employee retention is a top management priority, particularly when the unemployment rate hovers in the low single digits. Since we can’t create employees out of thin air, let’s focus on what we can do - assess the ones that we have and determine how to keep them happy, productive, and engaged.

This session will introduce participants to the 9-Box Grid as a tool for succession development and performance management. We will discuss the benefits and limitations of this tool and how to effectively assess current employees while appropriately considering next steps.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand how to use a 9-Box Grid for succession development and performance management.
  • Describe at least two benefits and limitations of this tool.
  • Identify next steps in implementing this tool into a workplace.
