This program focuses on identifying what contracts are, what contractual terms truly mean, and explores the importance of using contracts as an opportunity to transfer risk and minimize liability on behalf of your public entity.

The goal is to provide you with a sense of awareness about common contractual issues, and to help you understand how coverage and contracts are interrelated, with the overall purpose of better managing this potentially challenging liability exposure. After this training, you’ll be better prepared to recognize problematic terms and side-step areas of high risk for your organization, and you’ll learn what it takes to make an informed decision before your pen hits paper.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify what contracts are and how they fit in the overall coverage landscape
  • Recognize potentially problematic areas that come with signing contracts and agreements
  • Use contracts to your advantage by minimizing liability on behalf of your public entity
