MARC Train-the-Trainer: Faculty Training in Bullying and Cyberbullying
September 21, 2022 09:00 am – 2:00 pm (30 minute lunch provided)
This Train-the -Trainer program from the Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center offers an opportunity for New Hampshire K-12 educators to become MARC Certified Trainers in Bullying and Cyberbullying Prevention Training for Faculty. The program is concrete, practical, research-based, and highly interactive. It is designed to give trainers all of the knowledge and skills they need to use the program with their colleagues. All materials and lunch are included. The program is one that is designed to allow the Trainer to either train colleagues in one 2 hour period, or in a series of 20-30 minute periods, permitting training to occur during standard faculty meetings. The Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center is a Center at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts that produces evidence-based programming, resources and curricula for faculty, students, and parents in the United States and abroad.
The program covers (among other topics):
1. WHERE ARE WE? Why aren’t we better at stopping bullying?
2. DO DEFINITIONS MATTER? What is bullying and cyberbullying?
3. THE ELEPHANT: How has the pandemic changed things?
4. FEELING OVERWHELMED BY TOO MUCH INFORMATION? Key issues that can help us focus.
5. WHAT'S THE GOAL (resiliency) and how do we achieve it (social support, not reporting)?
6. TECH CHANGES: What are the most important technology issues at different ages?
7. OUR TO DO LIST – concrete actions we can all take.
All observations and recommendations are grounded in research findings, which are always reviewed during the training.

Elizabeth Englander
Dr. Elizabeth Kandel Englander is a professor of Psychology and the founder and Director of the Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center at Bridgewater State University, a Center which delivers programs, resources, and research for the state of Massachusetts and nationwide. A nationally recognized researcher and expert in the area of bullying and cyberbullying, childhood causes of aggression and abuse, and children’s use of technology, Dr. Englander was named Most Valuable Educator of 2013 by the Boston Red Sox because of her work in technological aggression and how it interacts with peer abusiveness in general. Dr. Englander earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern California as an All‑University Predoctoral Merit Fellow, where she conducted research on the causes of aggression. She also trained as a Post-Doctoral Fellow with a National Institute of Mental Health Merit Research Service Award at the University of New Hampshire at the Family Research Laboratory, and is currently a professor at Bridgewater State University.
