Discipline and termination decisions are one of the most challenging and consequential personnel management actions. Establishing best practices in these areas will create a more accountable and positive work environment for employees and reduce the legal liability associated with employment-related practice claims. The session will conclude with a practical exercise utilizing best practices in a simulation of delivering a termination notice to an employee.

After this session you will be able to:

  • Identify the elements of progressive discipline and documentation of disciplinary actions
  • Evaluate legal factors when considering termination of an employee
